Our new programme titled, ‘The uneven recovery’, will share views and insight on what this divergent recovery means for UK businesses and how best to position a response to ensure the continued viability and prosperity of the UK economy.
Powered by Clarity: a unique data asset
We are excited to share that this programme is informed by Clarity, our new and unique data asset that combines forward looking distress and growth indicators, our insolvency propensity model, and financial performance ratios.
Our regional reports
Following our first report on the uneven recovery for the UK, we are now releasing a series of reports looking at individual regions in the UK. We are pleased to share our latest regional report focusing on London, alongside reports on the North of England, the Midlands and the South West and Wales.
The London region
We share the latest in our series of reports when we look at what Clarity is revealing about the prospects for growth, and the impact COVID had on SMEs in the London region as we examine levels of distress.
The North
As part of our uneven recovery programme we took our focus to the North of England. In this report our data asset Clarity reveals that overall levels of distress have remained broadly stable in the North, with many SME sectors showing outperformance compared to the UK average.
The Midlands
The Midlands remains the UK’s hotspot for early-stage startups. It is also driven by a thriving manufacturing sector, which has better growth prospects than any other UK region, along with strong performances for the construction and financial services sectors.
The South West and Wales
The South West is the leading region in the UK when it comes to growth prospects for SMEs, according to our latest report informed by Clarity, our new data asset. Clarity also reveals that the South West’s combined growth potential and financial strength is 11 per cent higher than London.
Growth and distress in the post-pandemic recovery
On Friday 25th March we brought together a panel of business leaders, economists and thought leaders to give us their views on what this divergent recovery means for UK SMEs and how best to position a response to ensure the continued viability and prosperity of this vital segment of the UK economy.
Our experts looked at the various fortunes of SMEs through the pandemic, examining the macro-economic environment as well as diving into the detail of what is going to drive future business and financial performance.
