Tim is known for his collaborative and flexible approach and unique breadth of experience, delivering the best possible outcomes for clients.

Specialist expertise

Tim advises a range of businesses from local owner-managed businesses to large international corporates where they are underperforming or facing a crisis. This includes formulating and delivering turnaround strategies, exiting underperforming non-core subsidiaries/divisions, as well as raising funding, gaining the support of stakeholders, and accelerated distressed business sales. Tim also has extensive experience in formal rescue procedures such as company voluntary arrangements and pre-pack administration sales, and closures through formal insolvency procedures in the most efficient and sensitive manner as a last resort where no other options are possible.

He has worked for most of his career as an advisor in the Big Four, as well as five years at Barclays Bank working with businesses facing financial challenges and has a wealth of experience working for different stakeholder groups in difficult situations. As such, Tim is uniquely placed to understand the needs of different stakeholders and particularly enjoys working with management teams to gain the support of competing stakeholders, which is vital to achieving the best outcomes.

Tim has worked across a range of sectors with notable projects including the turnaround of a chain of casual dining restaurants and an international contractor in the oil and gas sector. Tim has also completed a solvent sale of Nampak Plastics Europe Ltd, an underperforming subsidiary of a large international group and rescued Cox and Kings Travel Ltd, the world’s oldest travel agency, through a pre-pack administration sale to Abercrombie & Kent, securing the support of multiple stakeholders with several complex and competing requirements. Finally Tim has advised on the administration of Gulliver’s Truck Hire Ltd, where he gained the support of multiple asset funders to continue trading the business in a complex administration to deliver several transactions for packages of commercial vehicles. This resulted in the payment of all creditors in full.

About Tim

Tim has first-hand experience of the impact that losing a business can have, when his father’s business failed as a child. This drives him to fight for businesses to find the best solutions, and where insolvency cannot be avoided, to approach this with empathy.

This led Tim to work in the corporate turnaround and restructuring specialism straight from university in 2001, predominantly working in Big Four accountancy firms as well as five years at Barclays Corporate Bank in its turnaround and restructuring team. He is a licensed insolvency practitioner and a qualified accountant (FCCA).

Outside of work Tim used to play rugby and now enjoys watching Bristol Bears and his son Oscar play. His weekends revolve around rugby, out on the road bike or in the mountain bike parks trying to keep up with his son (Wind Hill Bike Park is the favourite).
