Managing Director

Disputes, Investigations & Valuations

Kate is a managing director in our forensic accounting & investigations team, working in London and the south-east region.

Specialist expertise

Kate acts as an expert witness and advisor for individuals and corporates, with her experience ranging from owner-managed businesses and partnerships to large multi-nationals. She has also worked for public sector organisations and charities.

Kate has over 20 years’ experience as a forensic accountant and has been actively involved in more than 400 forensic engagements. Kate is most frequently instructed as an expert witness (both as a party-appointed and single joint expert) but also provides advice to clients at the preliminary stages of legal disputes. She has given evidence in the High Court, County Court, Employment Tribunal and at arbitration. She has experience working within most industry sectors including manufacturing, telecoms, technology, property, retail, pharmaceuticals, logistics and professional services. Kate takes a hands-on, pragmatic approach to her work and focuses on how to achieve the desired outcome at a reasonable cost.

Kate regularly undertakes business valuations in the context of shareholder, matrimonial and commercial agency disputes and quantifies loss of profit following breach of contract, business interruption, or as a consequential loss.

She also has significant experience of transaction-related disputes, having spent six months with Deloitte’s transaction services team when she was at the firm. Kate advises on warranty claims and acts as an expert determiner and adviser in completion accounts and earn-out disputes.

Kate focuses on producing work that can be readily understood by the non-accountant and is often told that her ability to explain things in plain English sets her apart. Her clients report that her expertise, speed, teamwork and pragmatism are invaluable. She is described as being incredibly thorough, proactive and user-friendly, producing reports that are excellent in respect of presentation and clarity.

Kate is a robust forensic accountant, standing firm in the face of challenges to her views but listening and making concessions where appropriate.

About Kate

Kate trained as an accountant at Deloitte then spent 11 years with their forensic services group. She moved to establish a forensic department at a small firm close to her home which grew to employ a team of five people over a period of nine years.

Kate is married with two daughters and lives in Surrey. When not working she enjoys running, swimming and playing in an (award-winning!) amateur orchestra.
