Experts from business advisory firm Quantuma were appointed as Liquidators of glazing specialists Glazing The Island Ltd, trading as GTI, on 5 February 2025. Quantuma’s Kelly Mitchell and Andrew Watling were appointed as Joint Liquidators to oversee the process. Glazing The Island has ceased trading with immediate effect.

Based in Cowes on the Isle of White, double-glazing manufacturer and installer Glazing The Island was founded in 2018. The company provided supplied and fitted PVCu double glazed products on the Isle of Wight and reported turnover of £1.6 million in 2023.

Glazing The Island entered liquidation following cashflow difficulties. The company encountered financial difficulties as a result of the COVID pandemic, as decreased consumer confidence caused a reduction in turnover, increasing pressure on the firm’s cashflow. The company diversified into commercial contracts in an attempt to boost revenue, however this impacted on the delivery of domestic work from private customers leading to complaints and further cashflow difficulties. Once the commercial contracts had completed, the company was unable to continue to trade and entered liquidation shortly thereafter.

Glazing The Island employed a team of 17 staff - all roles at the business were made redundant by the company.

Quantuma managing director and Joint Liquidator Kelly Mitchell said:

“It is deeply regrettable that Glazing The Island has been forced to cease trading, due to a series of challenging circumstances. This was a sad ending for an established company. As Joint Liquidators, our immediate priorities have been to provide appropriate support to those whose jobs have been affected, whilst seeking to obtain maximum value for the Company’s creditors.”
