Simon is a restructuring specialist; he deals primarily with more complex insolvency situations where there is an element of potential litigation or problems which require creative solutions. His sector experience includes care homes, retail, property and technology.

Specialist expertise

Simon is a managing director and a licensed insolvency practitioner in the restructuring team. He also sits on the firm’s management board. With his legal background and technical knowledge, Simon focuses on providing practical advice and delivering solutions to companies and individuals in financial distress. Simon regularly undertakes appointments involving complex, cross-border investigations and litigation; during which he works closely with the firms’ forensic accounting and investigations teams.

Simon’s wide experience includes managing formal procedures, litigation, insolvency and restructuring.

He has handled many construction development sales from special purchase vehicles. He recently investigated a complex financial fraud, which led to a successful claim against stakeholders and a Big Four accountancy firm. He managed a complex, cross-border appointment of a group of companies that are subject to significant UK litigation in relation to an ownership dispute.

Simon has been appointed to handle insolvency appointments of development properties and commercial property with trading businesses. He also provided restructuring advice to a multinational company, listed on the New York Stock Exchange, leading to formal appointments over a number of subsidiaries, and the formal insolvency of a wholesale pharmaceuticals business with intellectual property interest in prescription drugs.

In his spare time, Simon is a keen sportsman and particularly enjoys rugby and golf. He also enjoys skiing and the theatre.
