James is an experienced chief executive who specialises in branded retail, wholesale and consumer sectors internationally, across manufacturing, sales, marketing and brand.

He is a renowned expert in complex turnaround and growth projects, combining strategic thinking with a track record of effective operational improvement and implementation within demanding timescales and budgets.

James has held senior roles in high profile retail businesses for 30 years with notable assignments including: undertaking a planning and strategic review of buying and merchandising a retail store portfolio for Marks and Spencer; a structure review and proposal for overhead savings for Burberry; a business review, management report and subsequent proposal of restructuring actions for continued investment for Sterling Value Investment Fund/Mothercare.

James is a subject-matter expert on proposed investments, business and recovery plans and market trends to financial and venture capital/private equity clients. He has worked with many businesses in the capacity of team leader and motivator; as Chair, an adviser and counsel to management.

About James

Throughout his career, James has held a range of chief executive positions at the likes of the Harris Watson Group and Tulchan Group, and has developed a reputation as a retail expert, working with global brands such as Samsung, Mulberry and Hackett.

In 2006, he set up a specialist consultancy to provide executive and advisory services to corporate, financial and venture capital and investor clients.
