Martin Coyne appointed to spearhead Midlands growth
Fast growing corporate recovery and business advisory specialists Quantuma have recruited one of the Midlands best known insolvency experts to spearhead their drive into the West Midlands.
Martin Coyne, former senior partner of Poppleton & Appleby, has joined the firm as a consultant.
His appointment comes just two months after Quantuma expanded into the north west, bringing in Mike Wright as a partner in its new Manchester office.
The firm is growing nationally both geographically and through expansion of its service lines.
As well as corporate recovery, Quantuma now offers a broader advisory service to businesses.
Quantuma managing partner Carl Jackson said that establishing a Midlands presence was the next step in Quantuma building its national footprint.
“Martin is a key recruit for us with long established contacts and a reputation that is Midlands-wide,” he said.
“We are delighted that Martin is joining as we continue to grow both our service portfolio our national office network in tandem.”
Martin Coyne’s career in accountancy and as a licensed insolvency practitioner began in 1976 at Dafferns in Coventry. He honed his skills at KPMG for 11 years before joining Poppleton & Appleby where he rose to senior partner before stepping down in April this year.
He said: “I have watched with interest Quantuma’s rapid rise since 2013 and was very pleased when Carl Jackson and I began discussions on expanding the firm into the Midlands.
“This is an exciting time for Quantuma and its unique approach to corporate recovery and business advisory support, and I am very pleased to have been invited to join and play a role in building the firm’s growing national reach.”
The expansion into Birmingham now brings the firm’s national network to eight offices, including London, Southampton, Marlow, Watford, Brighton, Bristol and Manchester.
The announcement comes shortly after Quantuma announced turnover up by 21% in the year to 31 March 2017.
Quantuma billed £9.528 million in the past financial year which saw appointments to cases including the largest insolvency in the UK legal market when partner Andy Hosking and director Sean Bucknall were appointed administrators to King Wood Mallesons (KWM).
During the year the business invested heavily in IT and launched Qhub to handle administration of cases across the firm. The new system has prompted the Southampton office move and resulted in further recruitment.
The firm’s headcount now stands at 97 up from 72 at the same time last year.
