Eden International Productions Ltd hit financial difficulties last year
Liquidators of the company behind the failed “Heaven on Earth” musical which was due to tour the UK from December 2017 through to May 2018 have received claims from creditors totalling circa £2.6 million.
The show, which would have featured celebrity tenor Russell Watson as the voice of God, was in rehearsal but production company Eden International Productions Ltd, hit financial difficulties.
Chris Newell, a partner in corporate recovery and business advisory firm Quantuma, who is handling the liquidation, stressed the unsecured creditor claims had not yet been verified or agreed.
“The company has now been formally placed into liquidation and we have received unsecured creditor claims of circa £2.6 million. These claims have not yet been agreed and no verification has as yet been undertaken by the liquidators to agree these figures,” he said.
However, he is still keen to hear from potential business angels who might wish to invest in the potential production.
“We continue to liaise with various different parties, and would be keen for the show to be resurrected in some form in the future,” he said.
The musical was scheduled to kick off a nationwide tour from 4-7 December 2017 at the NEC Arena near Birmingham before embarking on a series of dates that included all major UK cities, concluding with four nights at the SSE Arena at Wembley in May 2018.
“Heaven on Earth” is based on the story of Adam and Eve with Russell Watson as the voice of God. It was written by Sara Jeffs and directed and choreographed by Racky Plews. The cast had been in rehearsals for nine weeks.
