Quantuma bucks trend to record 21% growth

Restructuring and insolvency practice Quantuma has delivered turnover up by 21% in the year to 31 March 2017.

Managing partner Carl Jackson, who founded the six-office firm in 2013, said the result was outstanding.

“To be able to demonstrate a 21% growth in what remains a relatively quiet market is outstanding and an absolute testament to the quality of the team we have here at Quantuma,” he said.

The results come on the back of the recent announcement that Quantuma has opened for business in the north west under the direction of newly-arrived partner Mike Wright.

Growth has also resulted in the Bristol office moving to larger premises and Southampton office will also move for similar reasons in May.

The firm now has seven offices in London, Southampton, Marlow, Watford, Brighton, Bristol and Manchester.

Quantuma billed £9.528 million in the past financial year which saw appointments to cases including the largest insolvency in the UK legal market when partner Andy Hosking and director Sean Bucknall were appointed administrators to King Wood Mallesons (KWM).

During the year the business invested heavily in IT and launched Qhub to handle administration of cases across the firm. The new system has prompted the Southampton office move and resulted in further recruitment.

The firm’s headcount now stands at 96 up from 72 at the same time last year.

Carl Jackson said: “Massive congratulations to everyone at Quantuma for pulling out all the stops to deliver this superb result – this represents a 20% increase on last year’s fee income.

“Every office contributed to this performance, beating forecasts across the board, which shows what can be done when we all share the same ambition.”

He added that further recruitment at senior level would be announced as the year progressed and the firm was still looking to grow across the UK.

“As with Manchester and our recruitment of Mike Wright to lead our expansion in the north west, our growth is likely to be people-led rather than purely geographical for the sake of it.

“We invite expressions of interest from talented insolvency specialists who relish a challenge and would like to be part of a very exciting time at what is still a young firm, barely four years old,” he said.
